Game desk. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has canceled pre-season matches and training to save the county season starting 12 April. The ECB issued a statement saying – We are sad to say that in the current situation we are canceling all types of pre-season matches and training camps. At the same time, the English Football League has announced a relief package of around Rs 428 crore to deal with the economic crisis caused by Kovid-19. This will help clubs playing in the lower division in the EFL.
EFL issued a statement after the board meeting on Wednesday, saying – there can be no one solution to deal with the current situation. We are working on all kinds of options. Therefore, it has decided to issue a relief package to provide immediate financial assistance to small clubs in the league. The Football League has a meeting in this regard on Thursday, in which the future will be discussed. Meanwhile, a football club in Scotland has decided to halve the salary of players and staff.
ECB may shorten county season
Here, the ECB spoke to all county team officials on a video call Wednesday to get the county season on schedule. According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, there will be a meeting on Thursday to discuss the issue of postponing the tournament due to coronavirus. The ECB fears that the Kovid-19 may also have an impact on England’s domestic cricket season. In view of this, the ECB has discussed a wide range of options. This includes shortening the championships and matches at the empty stadium. The ECB may also extend the county season to September.

Break on tennis due to corona
Amid the growing impact of the Kovid-19, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) have decided to postpone the tennis tournament by 7 June. The two associations issued a joint statement saying – after much deliberation all the ATP and WTA tournaments had to be canceled. This includes the ATP / WTA tournament to be held in Madrid, Rome. Apart from this, ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Tennis Tour have also been postponed till further orders.
